Once the nightstand itself was assembled it was time to build the drawer. A floating nightstand is ideal in a tight squeeze alongside your bed or if you d prefer to place a basket on the floor underneath the nightstand. Line the slides up with the front of the box and then extend them to their full length. Make four pocket holes on the top and bottom of both of the shorter pieces nightstand sides. I started by laminating two pieces of 1 x 8 poplar together to create two drawer bottoms. Cut a six foot 1 12 into four pieces.

Or maybe you re a minimalist at heart who doesn t need all those extra drawers or real estate for a nightstand. Simply drill the slides into place with the plywood under them.
